St. Nicholas party in the kindergarten
The anticipation of St. Nicholas is palpable in our kindergarten. Together, we lovingly prepare for his visit with songs, poems, handmade sacks and exciting stories about St. Nicholas, the Bishop of Myra.
Our focus: No blame or praise from St. Nicholas – we focus on joy! The children learn that St. Nicholas is a person in disguise and we remember the true story of St. Nicholas.
After the celebration, we take time to talk about our experiences and discover the story in the sack.
With a lot of heart and pedagogical sensitivity, we create an unforgettable celebration for the children – full of warmth and shining eyes!
Training with heart and brain: our educational afternoon
Twice a year, the Schmetterling kindergarten focuses on the pedagogical afternoon. This special half-day is dedicated to the further training of our employees. External experts organize practical workshops and provide valuable input on topics such as creative pedagogical approaches, developmental psychology, media education or mindfulness and self-care.
Our aim is to constantly improve the quality of our work and to make our day-to-day teaching enriching and inspiring – for our children and our team.
A gentle start to kindergarten life
The first step into kindergarten is a special moment for children and parents. At the Schmetterling kindergarten, we therefore offer you the opportunity to settle in gently. In consultation with the responsible teacher, you will accompany your child to the group on selected days and get to know the daily routine together.
This free and voluntary offer creates trust, reduces anxiety and eases the transition to the new environment. We want your child to feel comfortable and secure right from the start – an important foundation stone for a successful time at kindergarten.
On a discovery tour: learning where life happens
Excursions and nature explorations are an integral part of our educational concept. Whether exciting experiences in the forest, where the children can experience nature up close and deepen their knowledge, or a visit to the fire department to discover professions – these activities are not only educational for the children, but also a great adventure.
Through the exchange with experts and the intensive experiences outside the kindergarten, the children deepen their understanding of various factual topics. Excursions not only provide knowledge, but also encourage curiosity and the joy of learning – all with a big dose of fun!

A sign for the future: We carry the Austrian Ecolabel
We are proud to announce: All locations of the Schmetterling Kindergarten have been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel! We are thus setting a strong example for sustainability and promoting an awareness of the careful use of nature and resources in our educational work. Our children experience how closeness to nature develops – a connection that grows both with their home and with the environment.
In order to continuously improve our standards, the environmental teams at our locations meet regularly for environmental network meetings. Together, we develop new, exciting projects that we implement with the children and share our experiences. In this way, we bring the environmental concept to life and ensure that sustainability remains an integral part of our day-to-day kindergarten life.
The toy-free kindergarten - focus on creativity
An exciting project is being launched at the Schmetterling kindergarten: the “toy-free kindergarten”. This involves gradually removing the usual toys and replacing them with unstructured materials such as natural materials. The aim is to promote the children’s creativity, social skills and emotional development.
The children organize their free play in completely new ways, invent their own games and build exciting constructions with the new materials. The active participation of the children is particularly important – they help decide which toys go back into the room and which do not.
This project shows how much potential there is in simple materials and how children can develop their social and creative skills in a creative, open environment. A successful step towards more initiative and community in kindergarten.
